Leonardo DiCaprio gave Kate Winslet away in secret wedding to Ned Rocknroll
Kate Winslet got married earlier this month to billionaire Ned Rocknroll and didn’t tell anybody!
The 37-year-old actress wed 34-year-old Ned Rocknroll in a very private, intimate ceremony in NYC. Her Titanic co-star Leonardo DiCaprio gave her away in a wedding that her own parents didn’t know about. Her dad told The Sun: “It’s not something I know of – but nothing would surprise me with those two.”
Kate’s spokesperson confirmed to The Daily Mail: “I can confirm that Kate Winslet married Ned Rock’nRoll in NY earlier this month in a private ceremony attended by her two children and a very few friends and family. The couple had been engaged since the summer.”
This isn’t the first time Kate has had a secret wedding. In 2003 she secretly wed her second husbad director Sam Mendes on a Caribbean island with only her daughter Mia and three friends in attendance.
Ned’s original name was Ned Abel Smith, but a few years ago he changed his surname to Rocknroll (is Kate gonna be Kate Rocknroll now?) He’s the nephew of Virgin Group founder Richard Branson, and works in the space-travel division of his uncle’s company.
Kate met Ned in 2011 while on vacation with Burberry model Louis Dowler at Branson’s vacation home on Necker Island. While they were there a fire broke out in the house, and Branson praised Kate for helping save his 90-year-old mother. Another kind of fire broke out between Ned and Kate, and she broke Louis’ heart.
The Oscar-winning actress divorced Sam Mendes in 2010, she was married to her first husband Jim Threapleton from 1998-2001. Kate has a 12-year-old daughter, Mia Honey Threapleton, with Jim, and a 9-year-old son Joe Alfie Winslet Mendes, with Sam.
Rocknroll was previously married for two years to British socialite Eliza Pearson, daughter of Peregrine John Dickinson Pearson, the Viscount of Cowdray.
