Kentucky mayor arrested for selling pot in an elementary school parking lot
Alan Jackson and Jimmy Buffett famously sang “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere” but in the small Kentucky town of Olive Hill it was apparently 4:20 under the leadership of Mayor Danny Sparks.
An ongoing investigation by a task force into possible illegal misdeeds by Mayor Sparks concluded in his arrest Wednesday evening. Sparks got lit up for selling marijuana to an undercover cop and to make matters worse he did so in the parking lot of a local elementary school. He was charged with the felony crime of selling narcotics within 1,000 feet of a school.
Sparks officially stepped down and made the following statement to the community he had served for over a decade:
“I hope that everyone will understand that I have always tried to do the very best for Olive Hill and hope that the people will understand that I will always try to continue to help in any way possible to better this City regardless of what position I may serve,” Sparks said in his statement. “What happen(ed) tonight is something I have never done before and deeply regret it and hope to move on.”
“I was gonna run the town but then I got highhhhhhhhhhhhhh…”
