Katy Perry will headline the next Super Bowl halftime, multiple sources report. She reportedly beat out Rihanna and Coldplay for the honor.
The most-followed person on Twitter, Katy has an undeniably massive fan base. It is surely the NFL’s hope that many of those younger fans — who may not be traditional football viewers — will tune into the game. And, unlike friend Rihanna, most of Katy’s hits are family friendly.
Katy hasn’t responded to the new reports, but vaguely addressed the topic during ESPN’s College Game Day last Saturday when she said she isn’t “the kind of girl who would pay to play the Super Bowl.” That was reference to another report that the NFL was going to charge any performer because of the inherent publicity boost.
