Former American Idol judge and upcoming head judge for Bravo’s singer-songwriter competition show Platinum Hit, Kara DioGuardi, is releasing a memoir that reveals a chilling childhood recollection of molestation as well as a tough climb in the music business that included a vicious date rape encounter.

The memoir entitled A Helluva High Note is hitting the shelves on April 26th and should prove to be quite a read if the details from E News‘ exclusive preview is any indication.  Kara reveals that she was repeatedly molested as an 11-year-old by the teenage son of a family friend.

“On one particular day, he took me into the back shed of his house and put his hands all over my breasts and vagina.  I remember freezing and not knowing what to do.”

“Within a few hours, he was on top of me, pumping, sweating, and speaking to me in Spanish, not a word of which I could understand.”

She goes on to admit that she made the sad decision so many young women in her place make; to remain quiet in fear that speaking out would ruin her career.

She goes on to describe yet another horrible event in her journey as a woman in the music business.  This time she was invited on a 3-day songwriting trip with an unnamed “hugely successful artist” that turned into a disturbing nightmare that involved over-the-top sexual harassment.

“..the trip’s activities consisted of watching Russian porn, scavenging around the kitchen for food [and] leering at two strippers…as they performed sex acts in the living room.”

If you’re not familiar with Kara’s amazing credentials she has worked with Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Pink and Kelly Clarkson just to name a few.  In 2007 she was named BMI’s Pop Songwriter of the Year.  If you’re interested in picking up a copy of A Helluva High Note you can pre-order it here.
