Kanye West records Amy Winehouse’s ‘Back To Black’ to debut next month
Rapper Kanye West has joined the list of musician’s paying tribute to the late Amy Winehouse by recording a revamped version of the title track from Amy’s smash album Back To Black.
According to a source for The Mirror the track is “pretty emotive.” The source goes on to say, “It’s Kanye singing from the heart – with synthesizers.”
Kanye hopes to unveil the new track next month in London during the Moss Bros 160th anniversary celebration.
I’m well aware that Kanye is a huge, self-proclaimed douchebag, but I also have to admit that the guy is unbelievably creative and talented as a songsmith. So, I’m looking forward to seeing what he does with the track, especially giving the versatile title that I’m guessing Kanye will play around with in at least a quick rap break.
The announcement of Kanye’s Winehouse ode comes on the heels of Green Day’s performance of their tribute track, “Amy (Don’t You Go),” earlier this week.
Here’s a video of Amy performing “Back To Black” followed by the original lyrics:
He left no time to regret
Kept his d!ck wet
With his same old safe bet
Me and my head high
And my tears dry
Get on without my guy
You went back to what you knew
So far removed from all that we went through
And I tread a troubled track
My odds are stacked
I’ll go back to black
We only said goodbye with words
I died a hundred times
You go back to her
And I go back to…..
I go back to us
I love you much
It’s not enough
You love blow and I love puff
And life is like a pipe
And I’m a tiny penny rolling up the walls inside
We only said goodbye with words
I died a hundred times
You go back to her
And I go back to
We only said goodbye with words
I died a hundred times
You go back to her
And I go back to
Black, black, black, black, black, black, black,
I go back to
I go back to
We only said good-bye with words
I died a hundred times
You go back to her
And I go back to
We only said good-bye with words
I died a hundred times
You go back to her
And I go back to black
