Joseph Gordon-Levitt has a secret girlfriend
Sorry ladies! Joseph Gordon-Levitt is taken! While talking to Howard Stern, he opened up just a bit about his private life, but refused to give up much.
“I have a girlfriend, but I tend not to really like to talk about it in public,” the 32-year-old Don Jon actor revealed. “She is not in show business.”
He said they met through mutual friends, but started to bristle when Stern asked him further questions. “I get up in movies and I play other people, so when the audience is watching me in movies,” he explained. “I don’t want them thinking about me and who I’m dating, and blah blah blah. I want them to see the character, the story that I’m telling.”
He says the main reason he wants the identify of his girlfriend to stay private is because she doesn’t want any part of the public spotlight. “The girl that I’m with, she really doesn’t want to be a part of that. You can imagine not wanting to have that scrutiny.”
He was more forthcoming about his drugs use. When asked if he preferred drinking or smoking weed, he replied “They’re two very different things. Drinking can be fun sometimes, but no weed is more — I certainly do it more often … I go through fazes sometimes where it’s everyday, it’s not everyday these days.”
Howard Stern said he doesn’t smoke because pot makes him “insanely paranoid,” but Gordon-Levitt says it really helps him creatively. “I pace around and have all sorts of good ideas,” he said. “I was stoned when I first thought of ‘Don Jon’ as a comedy … the way I use it, I absolutely think it has a positive influence on my creative process.”
When Howard asked him about harder stuff, the actor said, “I don’t like [cocaine]. I like LSD. I haven’t done it very many times, it’s so powerful. I’ve only done it a handful of times. You have to take care and really do it right.”
Don Jon, which Gordon-Levitt wrote, directed and starred in opens this weekend in the U.S. It’s about a ladies’ man with a serious porn addiction and also features Scarlett Johansson, Julianne Moore, Glenne Headly, Brie Larson, and Tony Danza.
