With some free time over the holidays, it looks like John Mayer decided to play around with Photoshop. Either that, or he’s getting money from EA Maxis to promote a new Sims game. See what I mean…

The only other explanation is that John is joking around — which is a serious possibility, considering the Ricky in the picture with him is Ricky Van Veen, the cofounder of College Humor. He’s also the fiance of Allison Williams, who was recently Photoshopped to near oblivion for the Peter Pan Live! promotional poster, so I can see this being some kind of social commentary.

It’s no secret that virtually every advertisement and magazine cover you see is Photoshopped. That’s a given, but there are varying levels and styles of Photoshop and image altering; sometimes there are minor changes, and sometimes body parts are accidentally chopped off. Other times, faces are rendered completely unrecognizable, like with Demi Moore’s latest ad campaign. Her appearance in new Helena Rubenstein ads rivals even the most inexplicable Glitz Pageant photos.
