High school runner’s kind gesture captured in amazing photo
So yeah, I cried…
At a Cross County Championship meet over the weekend Fargo South runner Danielle LeNoue was nearing the finish line when she felt a pop in her knee and fell to the ground. She had injured her patella tendon.
While others passed the fallen athlete, Devils Lake runner Melanie Bailey stopped. Noticing the pain and emotion in Danielle’s face, Melanie stooped over and hoisted Danielle on her back. She then carried her across the finish line.
Melanie: All I could think about was she was in a lot of pain. And I wanted to help her. Honestly, I loved the way I ended it. It was a great way to end my cross country season.
The photo says EVERYTHING – so I’m gonna stop typing…
