On of the stories on ABC News’ 20/20 tonight features former People writer Chris Gardner, who went deep into the drug-fueled Hollywood underbelly to get exclusive stories on stars like Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears. In order to ingratiate himself with these stars, he would do drugs with them, get their drugs from their dealer, and just give them drugs. He even admits on camera to doing drug with Naomi Campbell and Lindsay Lohan (the Lohan admission was accompanied by a concerned, furrowed brow.)
He got so far into their good graces he could text people like Lindsay Lohan to get a story tip. His editors loved it, but as a consequence of all this partying Chris developed a drug problem of his own (cocaine is the only drug named in the online ABC piece.) His addiction got so bad he (gasp!) missed the biggest celebrity gossip story of all time: The Breakup of Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt. He says when he was supposed to be writing about The Breakup “I was at a house above Sunset Boulevard, Sunset Plaza, stowed away doing drugs for two days straight.”
He didn’t lose his job over that, but he did get canned when he missed an Emmy Awards party because he got pulled over and jailed for unpaid parking tickets.
