FYI announces Married At First Sight: The First Year with the original couples
They agreed to get Married at First Sight and to remain married a month and a half later, but what about one year down the road? Today, FYI announced Cortney Hendrix, Jason Carrion, Jamie Otis and Doug Hehner will return to the network for a new spin-off, Married at First Sight: The First Year.*
From the network…
Now, with the experiment over and their decisions revealed, can the two remaining couples make it and celebrate their first anniversary as husband and wife? In “Married at First Sight: The First Year,” viewers will follow Jason and Cortney and Doug and Jamie, as they continue their journeys from the six month mark of marriage to their March 2015 one year anniversary. Along the way, the couples will receive advice and guidance from trusted experts.
In the time since the couples made their decisions to stay together, they’ve celebrated their six monthiversaries — despite facing some personal hurdles, such as when Jason’s mom passed. The couples are also facing new questions about their relationships, including family plans. So, will their sparks still be alive now that the honeymoon period has passed? That’s what Gena McCarthy, a senior vice president at FYI, said the new show will address.
“It was a natural fit to follow-up with the two married couples post experiment,” she said. “Viewers will now see them as they embark on one of the most challenging times in married couples’ lives – the first year.”
Production on Married at First Sight: The First Year begins immediately with eight one-hour episodes coming soon. FYI is also casting for a second season of Married At First Sight.
*Monet Bell and Vaughn Copeland will not participate in the spin-off because they decided to divorce after the initial trial period.
