If you need a last-minute stocking stuffer, a harmless entertainment to send your children into fits of giggling, or a polite way to make loved ones easier to be around, Christian Poincheval is your man. In fact, he’s got all three bases covered at the same time.

Poincheval has invented a series of pills that will mask the smell of flatulence, turning it from an unpleasant aroma to one you’ll find yourself sniffing repeatedly and openly.

The mad scientist, who hails from the northwestern town of Gesvres, began inventing fart-masking pills in 2006, after a particularly stinky night on the town with friends. “Our farts were so smelly,” he said, “we were nearly suffocated. Something had to be done.”

The standard Poinchevallian concoction is a rose-smelling pill, but he’s come up with the chocolate stuff for the Christmas season. Lest you be worried about any sketchy ways, Poincheval is quick to point out that his product has been cleared by the French health authorities, and that he has many loyal customers: “Some buy them because they have problems with flatulence and some buy them as a joke to send to their friends. Christmas always see a surge in sales.”

If he’s you what you need, you can purchase the stuff online. Both the rose and chocolate fart pills retail for 19.9 Euro–or about $25 US, according to the latest calculations. And, yes, Poincheval will ship anywhere in the world. Eat freely.
