FBI informant reveals depth of investigation into Jared Fogle: He’s a monster
Florida woman Rochelle Herman said she worked as an informant against Subway’s Jared Fogle for 10 years before his arrest — including 4-1/2 years when she recorded her conversations with Jared for the FBI by using a wire tap.
“I’m numb. I’m shocked. I’m relieved most of all,” Rochelle, a former journalist, told WWSB of the news Jared pleaded guilty to multiple charges related to child pornography and sex with minors. “He’s a monster. For all of the years that I was working undercover with the FBI, what he expressed to me was that he wanted to do what he was doing.”
Rochelle said she had concerns about why it took the FBI so long to really go after Jared, but was told “a case of this size” just takes time.
“My fear all of these years is that the longer it went on, is the longer there was opportunity for more and more victims,” she said. Among other things, Rochelle said Jared told her about the parties he would arrange with underage “children” and having relationships with underage females while on “international tours.” She said she has no doubt his number of victims exceeds the 14 referenced in the charges.
Newly released FBI documents reveal Jared told multiple people in different states about his relationships with underaged women. Rochelle said she believes he opened up to her because he trusted her — although she doesn’t know why he thought she would approve. She said, “It took everything I had to do what I needed to do.”
Jared must pay a total $1.4 million to 14 victims and will serve a minimum of five years in prison. Although Rochelle said she doesn’t believe that is harsh enough, she is thankfully Jared finally won’t be a threat to other young people.
