Get excited Bachelor Nation! Former NFL player and small town boy Colton Underwood has been named as the next Bachelor.
Colton appeared on Good Morning America today to make the formal announcement. “I’m very excited,” Colton told host Michael Strahan. “Third time is the charm. That’s what they say, right? That’s what I’m hoping for.”

Underwood was a contestant on the most recent season of The Bachelorette vying for the love and affection of Becca Kufrin. Colton and Becca had a strong connection, and she kept him around for most of the season. Eventually, he was eliminated during week nine and ended up in “fourth place”.
Colton then appeared on the Bachelor In Paradise where he re-connected with his former flame Tia Booth. Their relationship fizzled, and he found himself single yet again.
Back in 2016, Colton dated former gymnast Aly Raisman. The pair knew of each other through mutual friends and sparked a connection via social media. They first appeared together at a red carpet event in December of 2016 but split up just seven months later.

Colton admitted he has learned from his previous relationships and is ready to settle down.
When Strahan asked if he was looking to end the season with a proposal, Colton replied, “That’s what I’m looking for– being engaged and then getting married shortly after that.”
The next season of The Bachelor is set to premiere sometime early next year on ABC.
