Chris Brown appeared on the Today Show earlier this morning were her addressed his vicious 2009 assault on his on-again, off-again girlfriend Rihanna. In his latest attempt at clearing his name, Chris sat down with host Matt Lauer and spoke of the incident as a learning experience, vowing to never lay his hands on her again.
“For me, you know, I’ve been humbled by the whole experience,” Chris revealed during the appearance. “From me losing everything, you know, to me having to regain public opinion or whatever it is. But most importantly, you know, knowing that what I did was totally wrong and having to kind of deal with myself and kind of forgive myself in the same breath and being able to apologize to Rihanna and be that man that can be a man, you know?”
“I think it’s just me proving myself once again and also me just being a man, and knowing what I did was wrong and never doing it again,” Chris explains of why the two got back together last year. “As far as me and her are concerned, she knows my heart and I know her heart. I’m not really focused on the negative.”
Despite claims that he and Rihanna have parted ways, Chris insists that “everything’s fine” between them. “We’re good,” he said.
What’s not good is his recent brawls with fellow musicians Frank Ocean and Drake — and the feuding doesn’t exactly say, “I’ve changed.” In addition to that, Chris was also seen throwing a fit over a $10 valet charge, which was all caught on video.
Regarding those incidents, Chris says, “For me, it’s just a learning process. You know, I have to just take it one day at a time. I can’t make everybody like me. It’s just about me being positive and everything that I’m doing with my music is hopefully to inspire the world, to inspire people who have been in my situation — or even anybody who’s trying to learn from me.”
