Charlie Sheen has gone back to his roots by changing his last name from his stage name back to his original name Carlos Estevez in the credits for Robert Rodriguez’s new movie Machete Kills. TMZ got their hands on a screencap from the credits.

When Charlie was a younger actor he followed in the footsteps of his dad Martin Sheen (Ramon Estevez) by changing his name from Carlos Irwin Estevez to Charlie Sheen to get more parts. Even though his dad changed his name, Charlie admitted in an interview last year that it “bothered” Martin (Ramon) that Charlie didn’t keep his birth name.

“I started using Sheen, I thought I’d give it a try, and before I knew it, I started making a living with it and then it was too late. In fact, one of my great regrets is that I didn’t keep my name as it was given to me. I knew it bothered my dad.”

Charlie’s brother Emilio Estevez has had a very successful career using his given name.
