Melissa Gorga Lady Gaga mashup of The Fame Monster and On Display cover art

The Real Housewives Greatest Hits CD is slowly turning into a box set! (Do the words “CD” and “box set” even mean anything any more?) The Real Housewives of New Jersey newbie Melissa Gorga went straight from being cast to in the studio to record her first single titled “On Display” which made its debut on the Ryan Seacrest show earlier this morning.

Without further ado, here’s Lady Gorga doin’ her thang:

And the remix version:

I have to admit that Melissa can actually sing. The song doesn’t have the heavy-handed autotuning onf “Tardy For The Party” or lapse into “talking as singing” like Countess LuAnn’s “Chic C’est La Vie.” One question I do have though is how Melissa was able to put this song together, which is all about the trappings of being famous and in the media spotlight, and release it before her first season on the show has even ended? I guess she foresaw all of the attention ahead of time?

Here are some sample lyrics from the song, which was co-written with Soul Diggazz, who are are famous for their work with the likes of Beyonce, Kelly Rowland, Mary J. Blige, Missy Elliot and Bow Wow:

From the first verse: “I can feel the weight of the world pushing down on me…Got me feeling all these feelings and it’s driving me insane. Paparazzi watching me do my thing.”

And the chorus: “Cause I’m on display, on display, on display, Each and every day, every day, every day. Everybody’s waiting on me to fall. Everybody’s waiting on me to crawl but they can keep on.” (Complete lyrics below)

The Real Housewives of New Jersey's Mellissa Gorga on Ryan Seacrest's radio show

In Melissa Gorga’s interview with Ryan Seacrest she said that the other Housewives who have dabbled in music have “wonderful songs,” but then added about her tune, “I think it’s a little different though. I just think that everyone is going to be pleasantly surprised. It’s good, I like it. That was my first, as they go on they get better and better and better. The ballad is ridiculous,” she said – meaning “ridiculous” in a good way.

So what do you think? Does Lady Gorga have a future in the music industry? (My answer would be a resounding “YES!” if she would put out the def dance hip hop track “Prostitution Wh0re!”)

Here are the complete lyrics for Melissa Gorga’s “On Display”

I can feel the weight of the world pushing down on me
I can feel every one’s eyes watching me
I can feel the heat of the spotlight shine on me
And I can feel the pressure on my body
Got me feeling all these feelings and it’s driving me insane
Paparazzi watching me do my thing

Cause I’m on display, on display, on display
Each and every day, every day, every day
Everybody’s waiting on me to fall
Everybody’s waiting on me to crawl but they can keep on
(Waiting on me, Waiting on me, Waiting on me to fall) 4X

I know you’re gonna try to bring me, bring me down
But I’m a fighter, I’m a tiger I can figure it out
Slander my name in all the papers that’s what you wanna do
But you keep watching I’ll keep glowing that’s what I’ll do for you
Got me feeling all these feelings and it’s driving me insane
Paparazzi watching me do my thing

Cause I’m on display, on display, on display
Each and every day, every day, every day
Everybody’s waiting on me to fall
Everybody’s waiting on me to crawl but they can keep on
(Waiting on me, Waiting on me, Waiting on me to fall) 4X

Everybody wanna see me fall
Everybody wanna bring me down
Everybody wanna steal my crown
But it’s not going down
Some people don’t like my style
But I don’t give a what
Everybody got something to say
Go ‘head and post it up
On the blog sites, put it up, on the headlines
It don’t matter what you say I’m still gonna shine.

Cause I’m on display, on display, on display
Each and every day, every day, every day
Everybody’s waiting on me to fall
Everybody’s waiting on me to crawl but they can keep on
(Waiting on me, Waiting on me, Waiting on me to fall) 4X
