Tina Fey’s new show is coming to Netflix in March

Exclusive screening of 'This is Where I Leave You'

Miss 30 Rock? Wish Mean Girls had a dozen-odd sequels? Need more of the comedy stylings of Tina Fey in your life?

Netflix has got you covered. It’s picked up Fey and 30 Rock co-producer Robert Carlock’s new show, “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” and will begin airing it in March. Which is practically tomorrow.

NBC originally ordered the comedy, featuring Ellie Kemper of NBC’s The Office. She plays a woman who escapes a doomsday cult and flees to New York to begin her life anew.

NBC apparently decided that “doomsday cult fleeing” wasn’t a good fit with its “drama-heavy mid-season schedule,” so, despite having ordered 13 episodes, it gave the show the ax.

Enter Netflix. As NPR points out, there’s really not a whole lot of comedy in the streaming service’s original programming mix. They’ve chosen to enter Orange is the New Black in comedy categories at the major awards shows, for some reason. (This might be related to why the show keeps losing at those shows.)

And Arrested Development is in a state of…extended pause.

So, Fey and Carlock’s show received a two-season order. Meaning 26 episodes that you can binge watch to your bleary eyes’ discontent, right around the time of year when you’re wishing winter would go die in a fire already. Not bad.

Among the other actors with roles on the show: Titus Burgess, who will portray a man who makes his living as a robot in Times Square; and Jane Krakowski, formerly Jenna Maroney on 30 Rock.
