Amy Duggar’s fiancé encourages fans to ‘voice opinion’ to TLC after network declines to film wedding

Amy Duggar Fiance Dillon King

As with the rest of the Duggar family, Amy Duggar and her fiancé, Dillon King, seem upset TLC canceled 19 Kids and Counting.

“TLC [called] us yesterday stating they have decided that they will NOT be filming our wedding and they are ‘glad they got to work with us,'” Dillon said on Instagram yesterday, along with a link to his and Amy’s new YouTube channel. “So, Amy and myself apologize that we will not be able to share our special day with you all on the TLC network.”

He suggested fans who want to see the wedding on TV should “voice your opinion to [the] network.” However, after some followers accused Dillon of acting like he was “entitled to a TLC funded wedding,” he deleted the first comments and defended his stance.

“I never said I was entitled to anything. Nor have I ever thought I was famous or have ever tired to be. And again I’m not mad of their decision. They can make decisions for themselves it’s their business. I wasn’t bashing them, I was only letting people know what was happening with that situation,” he said. “I know what marriage is about, and I wasn’t crying for attention. Believe me, I’m not upset. Just stating facts and letting everyone who has been asking know what’s going on.”

Even if Dillon and Amy aren’t frustrated by TLC’s decision, her uncle is.

“He absolutely wanted to be back on TV,” an insider said. “I think Jim Bob and Michelle honestly did expect people to just move on from this. Their thinking is, they put this behind them ages ago, so why wouldn’t the rest of the world?”

That source also confirmed TLC and the Duggars were in “near-constant” and “intense” talks between the time Josh Duggar’s police report was exposed and the show was finally cancelled. During those discussions, the insider said Jim Bob shut down the idea of a spin-off that focused on Jill Dillard and Jessa Seewald. The last nail was put in the coffin when Jill and her family left for their long-term mission abroad. As the source said, “And with that, one half of any potential new show was gone.”

The family will, however, return to TLC for roles in an upcoming documentary about surviving childhood abuse. The insider said their goal for the program is “to show that this did not scar them permanently.”
