After the fall of Silk Road, Evolution had become one of the major illegal marketplaces on the dark web. Over night the black market site shut down completely, with reports that it’s admins took off with the $12 million of Bitcoin in their accounts.

Evolution was apparently the best coded and easiest to use of the darknet sites, and even had an Escrow system set up that was supposed to protect users. For a few days, there appeared to be problems with transactions, and then the site just vanished without warning. The FBI doesn’t appear to be involved because they usually put up a notice when they shut down and take control of a site.

The real identity of the site’s owners, “Kimble” and “Verto,” is currently unknown.
