Friends worry Tori Spelling is doing ‘True Tori’ show to exact revenge on Dean McDermott

Tori Spelling and philandering husband Dean McDermott are returning to television next week with the premiere of True Tori on Lifetime. Unlike Tori and Dean’s previous reality television runs, the new show promises to be more “intimate, raw, emotional and completely real.”

But, sources close to the couple say it may have been too much, too soon after Dean’s stint in rehab, which was reportedly for sex addiction.

“The decision to do this show is not coming from someone who is in a solid, good place. Tori is very, very upset and angry,” one of the 90210 star’s longtime friends told People. “It’s just too raw and personal. There’s too much pain and it’s too private.”

Despite the potentially embarrassing topics, friends say the show was “all Tori’s idea” — although they aren’t sure about her motivation.

“A part of her wants to completely humiliate him and make him suffer in front of millions of people,” said an insider. “She wants to have some sort of justice. She wants him to truly feel the pain of what he did to her… But there’s no way Dean wants to be humiliated on television for cheating on his wife. His life is basically a nightmare.”

Dean was willing to go along with it because, according to friends, he “will do anything Tori says right now.”

As for where Tori and Dean see their relationship going from here, sources say they are both focused on their kids and aren’t making any decisions about the future. Tori is reportedly also trying to comprehend why Dean cheated on her.

“If she can believe that his addiction has nothing to do with her, then maybe they can move on.”

True Tori premieres on Lifetime on Tuesday, April 22 at 10/9c.
