You never know what you’ll see when you drive down the highway on a Thursday morning. Could be a school bus full of kids on a field trip, a funny bumper sticker, or fancy sports car darting in and out of traffic. But sometimes, you drive up next to a tractor trailer loaded with a blown out 1970’s style GMC RV with a huge painting of Jesus and Ron Burgundy on it.
The only thing I could think of was, “Stay classy, Winnebago.”

As it turns out, driving by this fabulous wreck didn’t just bring me a moment of pure joy, it also brought with it a key clue to the action of Anchorman: The Legend Continues. There have been photos of the KVWN Channel 4 News Team filming in New York City in which all of them appear to have sustained serious injuries, including Ron Burgundy, who has an arm in a sling and his other hand in bandages:
The RV is already badly damaged at this point, but clearly not to the extent that it is in the photos I took earlier today! I’m wondering if perhaps whatever caused the damage to the RV in the film also caused the damage to the news crew? I’m guessing some sort of Grand Canyon incident? (They had to drive from San Diego to New York City, right?)
So could there be hope that the RV still manages to survive somehow? Sorry to break the news to all of you GMC RV lovers out there, but unless what I saw was an RV stunt double, I’m here to tell you it was tee-totaled. This motor home doesn’t survive the film. The windshield’s cracked, most of the other windows are gone, the window frames are bent, and there are huge dents and scrapes covering practically every inch of it. Bad things happened to this bad boy, very bad things. It’s like it took a bath in the automotive equivalent of Sex Panther. Pretty much the only thing that survived (of course) is the beautiful painting of Jesus with his arm around Ron Burgundy as doves fly into a blue sky.
