YOU, ME & MY EX April Kirk and Loren Kirk share a bathtub together after April married Loren’s husband

April Kirk and Loren Kirk from TLC’s You, Me and My Ex used to be next-door neighbors while both of their marriages were falling apart. Now, April is married to Loren’s ex-husband John and Loren lives down the street with her friend Heather (and April’s ex Roy also still lives in the neighborhood and remains good friends with April.)

At first, Loren was skeptical about April, who started a friendship with her husband while he was still married to Loren, but now they’ve fallen in love as friends and started a podcast together called Coparenting Past Chaos.. To drum up interest for the podcast the women filmed a bunch of provocative promo photos including wearing nothing but bath towels and getting in the bath together.

John says he doesn’t really understand April and Loren’s relationship, as it used to be quite acrimonious. He compared it to “Celebrity Death Match.” But now, the two women are sending each other “I love you” messages every night before bed. Although he doesn’t really understand what’s going on, John’s grateful that everyone is getting along better. Human relationships don’t have to fit into a box to work out ok.

The situation in this neighborhood is complicated and unconventional, but they are mostly making it work. Last week’s episode showed some tension with April’s husband John and her ex-husband Roy when April and Roy got matching tattoos of their 14-year-old son Tanner’s birth coordinates. He didn’t have a problem with the tattoos, just the fact that he wasn’t informed beforehand. April also pushed some buttons by joking that the tattoo session was “date” with her ex.

April met John because he had mowed her yard and knocked on her door to tell her. Her husband Roy was deployed at the time, and she asked to make John dinner to pay him back for his kind gesture of mowing her lawn. As they talked over dinner, April realized she was getting something from John that was missing in her life: having someone listen to her. At the time both of the couples were already going through tough patches, but April and John did not discuss their marriages at the time, instead they saw their burgeoning friendship as an “escape” from their troubles.
