During InStyle’s Celebration of the 2014 Golden Globe Awards yesterday, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association officially presented Miss Golden Globes, Sosie Bacon. Without much explanation, it was immediately clear just who is the 21-year-old aspiring actress: The daughter of Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick.

“As we all know, she comes from a very talented family and this gets us one degree closer to Kevin Bacon,” HFPA President Theo Kingma joked while making the announcement, The Los Angeles Times reports.

As Miss Golden Globes 2014, Sosie follows in the footsteps of other celebrity children Francesca Eastwood, Rumer Willis, Dakota Johnson and — more distantly — Melanie Griffith. The upcoming ceremony is set for January 12, 2014. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will return to host.

Similar to many Miss and Mr. Golden Globes who’ve gone before her, Sosie is an aspiring actress. She previously appeared as a younger version of her mother in 2005’s Loverboy and has acted alongside her mother in The Closer. Producer James Duff once referred to her acting skills as “subtly wonderful.”

With this hosting gig, Sosie hinted she hopes to advance her career even more. Speaking with Hollyscoop, Sosie said her parents are also supportive of her going into the business — even though that wasn’t always the case.

“They were really excited for me… They’ve always been so supportive of me in doing whatever I wanted. Not pushing me into this world, but always supporting decisions I want to make. So considering that I just decided that I wanted to be an actress, it was perfect timing. They were really happy for me.”

Although Sosie grew up with famous parents and now wants to be an actress, she was reportedly very sheltered from the entertainment industry during her childhood. She and older brother Travis lived and went to school in Manhattan. She went college at Brown University and participated in theater shows.
