Whitney Thore engaged to Chase Severino after Paris proposal, plus My Big Fat Fabulous Life preview trailer!

Congratulations are in order for My Big Fat Fabulous Life star Whitney Way Thore as she reveals that she and former boyfriend (and current fiance) Chase Severino got engaged while in Paris together in October!

“Chase and I got engaged on October 9th in Paris and I’m quite possibly the happiest woman alive,” Whitney shared on Facebook earlier today, along with a photo of herself with her new fiance and her new engagement ring. “It has been REAL hard to keep this a secret!” she added.

 
 

Rumors began swirling that perhaps Whitney was headed to the altar when she was photographed with fans in November during her fourth annual No Body Shame at Sea cruise wearing a ring on her ring finger. However, Whitney often wears numerous rings, including ones on the ring finger of her left hand, and it is clear from the cruise photos that the ring she is wearing IS NOT the honker rock that Chase proposed with!

Speaking of Whitney’s big fat fabulous rock, she reveals on Facebook that the ring is comprised of diamonds, white gold, and a yellow sapphire and that it “is exactly what I wanted.”

In addition to her Facebook reveal, Whitney also spoke with People and shared a video on TLCme announcing the news. Here is a transcript from her TLCme video:

Hey y’all, it’s Whitney from My Big Fat Fabulous Life and I have some really exciting news to share with you guys! I am engaged. I am so excited! I feel like I’ve been waiting for this moment for a really long time. I know you have too, but not as long as me!

I feel, just, really excited, and I can’t wait to share my journey with you and for you guys to come along with me as I plan my wedding and get married.

Honestly, I don’t even know if I knew that I was ready to be engaged until I was standing there with my boyfriend on his knee asking me. And then in that moment I just knew and I was ready.

I don’t really think, like, I’m going to be a bridezilla. I feel like I’m going to be pretty low maintenance. I think if anyone’s going to cause problems it’ll definitely be Babs.

I just want to say thank you so much for all your love and support, and I can’t wait for you guys to watch the wedding with me. It’ll be just like you’re there! Bye!

Whitney’s engagement reveal was accompanied by a preview trailer for the new season of My Big Fat Fabulous Life, which provides some context for how Whitney and Chase met and what viewers can expect to see this season:

Whitney reveals in the preview that she is leaving her hometown of Greensboro, North Carolina. “I’m moving to Charlotte because I’ve started a new business venture called No BS Active doing fitness videos online.”

Whitney says that she met her business partner Ryan via a dating app, and it seemed like things were moving pretty fast between the two. However, Whitney met Ryan’s friend Chase, and he and Whitney really hit it off. She is soon introducing Chase to her friends as her boyfriend.

“I guess that settles the whole ‘Buddy kiss’ thing,” one of Whitney’s friends says, referencing the controversial smooch between Whitney and her BaeFF Buddy last season.

Whitney says in the trailer that she and Buddy haven’t even talked about “the kiss” since it happened, but that doesn’t keep Chase from being concerned about a potential rekindling of the fires between the two. “I trust you 100%,” Chase tells Whitney, “it’s just Buddy’s around all the time.”

Chase later admits to Whitney that he thinks Buddy may be in love with her before the clip cuts to a scene in which Chase confronts Buddy about it. “It’s turned from friendship to co-dependency,” Chase says in an interview segment.

In addition to her budding romance with Chase and the bro drama between him and Buddy, this season will also include Whitney entering the North Carolina State Weightlifting Championship as well as her struggles dealing with her parents’ health issues.

The new season of My Big Fat Fabulous Life premieres Tuesday, January 7 at 8/7c on TLC.
