VIDEO Wendy’s worker victim of “smack cam,” cops looking for idiots
You know how when you’re 16 life is freaking hard enough? And you know how some kids that age are doing the best they can – including learning the value of work and money by having a job? Imagine that time in your life, or perhaps that’s you right now, and then picture a group of morons deciding it would be a good idea to film themselves pulling up to your job and smacking you in the face for a laugh.
That’s unfortunately what happened to Calaybra Jones of Austin, Texas.
Calaybra was working the register at a North Austin Wendy’s location Tuesday evening when she was approached by a young man who, after a brief few moments, slapped her in the face as part of a current stupid prank trend called “smack cam.” The kid ran off screaming with laughter as Calaybra was left there wondering what just happened.
The entire ordeal was caught on video by the morons and shared to YouTube.
Here’s that footage, reposted by someone else who’s looking to have those responsible identified, but be warned – the clip contains vulgarity, an assault and an almost incomprehensible amount of human worthlessness courtesy of the assailants:
Calaybra’s mother told KTBC, “There’s nothing funny about it at all. Nothing funny about it and unfortunately, it’s all about the way you raise your children unfortunately. And you just have to be more hands on with your children so that they know that this is just not right.”
Senior Austin Police officer Veneza Bremner added that the consequences of “Smack Cam” could get a lot worse than what transpired in this video:
“Who’s to say this victim wouldn’t fight back? You know if they do it again, who’s to say the other person isn’t going to fight back and cause injury or death to them? And it can escalate.”
Calaybra indicated that she knew who was responsible and was providing that information to the police. The assailants in the clip could be charged with a Class C Misdemeanor.
