Blake Shelton is one of the biggest country music stars on the planet right now. With hits left and right, his celebrated marriage to fellow superstar Miranda Lambert and his popular run as a coach on The Voice, it’s pretty darn clear the world can’t get enough BS (see what I did there).
Just like 99% of those who are fortunate enough to be where he is, Blake started on the bottom — just a kid from Oklahoma with a 6 string, a dream and Weird Al’s haircut apparently! In some gloriously vintage video recently found and released by KFOR, fans can get a look at Blake before he hit it big.
The clip is from a report filed 12 years ago and it follows Shelton for a couple of days on the road. The “Sure Be Cool If You Did” singer talked about his “piece of crap” bus always breaking down, the importance of having some Bud Light waiting at the next stop and looking forward to when others will be calling to open for him.
In the video Blake says, “I really do hope I’m doing this ten years from now and I hope things are going as well as they’re going now.” Mission accomplished and we’ll add that a hairstyle change didn’t hurt neither!
