VIDEO – Footage of Nancy Kerrigan’s 1994 Detroit Olympics performance after Tonya Harding attack
Figure skater Nancy Kerrigan has recently suffered a devastating loss. Her 70-year-old father died at home Sunday after a fight with her brother, Mark.
16 years ago Nancy Kerrigan became a national heroine when she gave the performance of her life at the 1994 winter Olympics after being attacked by a man hired by rival Tonya Harding’s husband. The incident was mostly caught on video and happened right after one of Kerrigan’s practices.
Here’s news footage from that time.
Kerrigan recovered, however, and flew to Norway to compete in the 1994 Winter Olympics. She gave an almost flawless performance and walked away with a silver medal. Tonya, her scheming rival, performed poorly and had never been a contender.
