VIDEO Bobbi Kristina is engaged to her brother, and they’re getting a reality show
Bobbi Kristina and her family are heading to the small screen in the upcoming Lifetime reality show, The Houstons: On Our Own. The series follows the famous family as they try and move on from the devastating loss of Whitney Houston and adjust to life without her. However, during the grieving process, an odd relationship formed between Kristina and her “adopted” brother Nick Gordon, and in a new preview clip for the show it’s revealed the two are engaged to be married!
Here’s the clip:
Whitney unofficially adopted Nick when he was just 12 and raised him and Bobbi as brother and sister from then on. While they were “always close,” the family never expected their relationship to become romantic. On the show, viewers will get to see their family’s reaction to both their new relationship and the engagement announcement.
Rumors of the couple’s relationship began in November of last year when Bobbi tweeted, “I love sleeping with big brudder (: only person that helps my insomnia B!! Hah (:” As expected, the couple immediately were bombarded with hateful messages about their relationship, but they didn’t mind. “Yea we got a little closer and what!!!… All the haters that don’t know us or the real story can’t un follow me. I don’t give a f–k,” Nick tweeted.
“We were best friends a long, long, long time ago and now I’m in love with him,” Bobbi says of Nick. “It was never anything that these people were saying, incest, none of that. And you guys can take my word for it.”
Months later, Bobbi was sporting a giant rock on her ring finger (above), and while she and her rep denied the engagement rumors at the time, it appears to be the same ring she is wearing when she announces her engagement on the new reality show.
Whitney’s sister-in-law, Pat Houston, is just one of Bobbi’s many family members who have not been accepting of the couple’s romance. “One of the hardest challenges I have ever had to face is the fact that these two people say they’re engaged,” says Pat, who is also manager and executor of Whitney’s estate. “I don’t see him as a lover or boyfriend of Krissy’s. I still look at him as a family member.”
Regarding her family’s feelings about their unconventional relationship, Bobbi says, “They wanna see us fail. I’ve got one thing to say: ‘You won’t!'” See for yourselves when The Houstons: On Our Own premieres on Wednesday, October 24.
