Vicki Gunvalson’s daughter Briana had a serious headache from spinal fluid leak (CSF)
Vicki Gunvalson and her daughter Briana Wolfsmith haven’t had the best health year. This season on RHOC Vicki suffered from internal bleeding, and had to have surgery, and last season the Real Housewives of Orange County taped Briana as she went through a harrowing cancer scare.
Last week (in real life time, not on the show) Briana had to go to the hospital to treat a massive headache caused by a cerebral spinal fluid leak. Vicki broke the news on her Bravo blog Monday, saying that her daughter was on a morphine drip for three days, but it still couldn’t quell the pain.
Friday the doctors performed a “blood patch” to alleviate the pain, but it didn’t help much. They were scheduled to do another one on Tuesday. An epidural blood patch is supposed to help a severe headache caused by leaking spinal fluid by injecting blood from the arm into the membrane that covers the spinal cord (called the dura.) The blood then is meant to clot and stop up the leak. It looks like the second blood patch, or something worked, because Briana is reported to be doing much better.
Thankfully, Briana is now back from the hospital and resting. Vicki updated her fans on Briana’s status via Facebook:
Once again, Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers!!! Briana is finally discharged and is home resting. WOOO HOOO!
Woo Hoo indeed Vicki! So glad to hear that Briana is doing better. Briana is many people’s favorite “Housewife;” she’s got to stay healthy to keep the sanity strong on the show!
