Top Ten Songs Neil Young Might Perform for Conan’s Goodbye

Neil Young Plays Melbourne

The legendary Neil Young, this year’s recipient of the distinguished MusiCares person of the Year award (read about it here), will be closing out Conan O’Brien’s Tonight Show run on Friday January 22nd, 2010. This got us to thinking what song or songs Young might choose.

We like to think we’re progressive just like Neil here at Starcasm so if you’re reading this sir, here are our top ten suggestions.

#10 Tonight’s the Night (The night for Conan to say see-ya)

#9 Pants on the Ground (Not really but this Fallon clip is incredible)

#8 Don’t Let It Bring You Down (We have a feeling Coco won’t)

“Don’t let it bring you down. It’s only castles burning. Just find someone who’s turning and you will come around.”

#7 War of Man (Leno / NBC Suits / Letterman / Conan / Kimmel, what a tangled web we weave)

“No one wins It’s a war of man.”

#6 Wrecking Ball (Time for Conan to close this mother out) This is a beautiful cover by Emmylou Harris.

#5 The Great Divide (Will the bonds ever be healed?)

“In the great divide
Nothing to decide
No one else to care for or love
In the great divide
You won’t fit in too well”

#4 Everybody Knows This is Nowhere (NBC)

#3 Transformer Man (Conan will find a new home)

#2 What Did You Do To My Life (Conan asks NBC)

“I don’t care if all the mountains
Turn to dust in the air.
(What did you do to my life?)
It isn’t fair that I should
Wake up at dawn
And not find you there
(What did you do to my life?)”

#1 Long May You Run (Long may you run Mr. Conan O’Brien)

We’re looking forward to watching the last episode and to Young’s performance.
