The art of the mashup takes a number of special talents. There’s the initial recognition that two disparate pop culture things would be great when mixed together. There’s the follow through in figuring out how to do this in a meaningful and enjoyable way. And then most importantly you have to sink it up and leave bloggers like us blown away by your mad mashup skillz.
Well friends I may be a little partial due to my infatuation with both Cookie Monster and Tom Waits but the following mashup of the two to Waits’ great “God’s Away On Business” is the greatest I’ve seen in the genre. It’s hilarious, haunting, moving and entertaining all at the same time. Hell I’d go as far to say that the mercurial Waits would love it.
