The Situation issues a statement about prescription drug problem
As we reported earlier today, Jersey Shore star Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino reportedly checked himself into a rehab facility to treat a prescription drug problem. TMZ has since followed up with additional information, including which facility it is: the Cirque Lodge in Utah.
The Situation’s official website posted a reaction to what was being reported in a blog post titled “Do NOT Believe Everything You Hear, Especially from TMZ.” The post included a quote from TMZ and the following:
You can’t believe everything you hear about “the situation” with The Situation, especially when it comes to some of the ridiculous embellishments TMZ has been spreading.
This is just like the child hood game of “telephone” – someone hears a small rumor and blows it out of proportion.
All these websites are doing is spreading gossip/hearsay, and unless you hear it from us, you can’t believe everything you read.
The site then later published another statement that seems to confirm a lot of what TMZ had been reporting throughout the day! Here’s that statement:
As we said earlier today, many sources have been falsely reporting stories about The Situation being in rehab – but we would like to clarify what is going on, and I have a message from Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino himself…
“I want to set the record straight. I have voluntarily taken steps to get control of a prescription medication problem I had due to exhaustion. I have spent the past several weeks getting treatment for this problem and recuperating from my work and appearance schedule. I appreciate my fans support and love you guys.”
It is important for us, and for The Situation, to let our fans know the truth behind what is actually going on, and getting treatment is something Mike has done on his own volition.
We appreciate your continued support and well wishes for Mike as he gets the treatment he needs.
