The Facebook Movie trailer is Creep-y

26-year-old Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is slammed in David Fincher’s The Social Network trailer (a.k.a. The Facebook Movie).

The trailer starts with a really eerie choir rendition of Radiohead’s Creep over a montage of profile pics and status updates. That alone casts a really dark, enjoyable mood over the idea of Facebook. “I want a perfect body, I want a perfect soul, I want you to notice.” That’s what Facebook’s all about, isn’t it?

And then we hear Zuckerburg (Jesse Eisenberg) say in a whiny, geeky voice that he wants to get the attention of the exclusive clubs at Harvard. In real life, and in this script by Aaron Sorkin (adapted from Ben Mezrich’s The Accidental Billionaires) Zuckerburg is able to get the attention of a lot more people that just the elite members of Harvard clubs. But, as the tagline for this movie says, “You can’t make 500 million friends without making a few enemies.”

With the help of buddy Eduardo Saverin (played by new Spiderman Andrew Garfield) and Napster inventor Sean Parker (Justin Timberlake) Zuckerburg makes million dollar deals with venture capitalists, enjoys a booze and booby rich playboy lifestyle, and boldly connives his way to billions of dollars and amazing amounts of power.

This is the story of how one man’s lust for vanity and attention created a portal for everyone to get never-ending fixes for their own vain cravings.

The Social Network hits theaters October 1st, 2010.
