Today’s the day that Real Housewives of New Jersey star Joe Giudice is set to report to prison for bankruptcy fraud.
Joe’s wife, Teresa Giudice, took to Instagram to share candid pics from a farewell get-together held Monday night. Of the gathering, a source told People “Everyone had a great time. It was such a nice night. But of course, people were sad that Joe is leaving soon.”
Theresa shared two photos of the pair together, and captioned them, “The love of my life” and “with my honey.” She also posted pics of them with their four daughters: Gia, 15, Gabriella, 12, Milania, 10, and Audriana, 6.
Teresa and Joe were convicted of bankruptcy fraud in 2014 and were allowed to serve their sentences separately. After serving for nearly a year, Teresa was released last December 23. (Joe also pleaded guilty to failing to file a tax return in 2004.)
Joe told People, “I’m looking at it like rehabilitation for me. I am not going to be able to drink for a while which is good because I don’t even know when it’s been since I haven’t had a drink. It’s been a long time. The whole year I definitely drank every day, a couple bottles at night just to go to bed.”
Joe’s sentence is 41 months. However, the farewells for he and his family are especially difficult because Joe faces the possibility of being deported after serving his time. According to NJ.com, “If a legal permanent resident such as Giudice commits an aggravated felony or a crime of ‘moral turpitude’—that category includes fraud—U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement can begin the removal process. If so, Giudice will likely be moved into immigration custody at the end of his sentence.”
