STREET OUTLAWS Derek Travis post-crash health update. Plus, will he rebuild the Silver Unit Camaro?
Street Outlaws racer Derek Travis crashed his famous “Silver Unit” Camaro while racing in Alabama two weeks ago, and this week he updated fans on his health as well as whether or not he plans to rebuild the Silver Unit.
“To all the fans asking, I am getting around better but still in quite a bit of pain,” Derek wrote on Facebook on Friday.
And what are Derek’s plans as far as his next car? “I do plan on rebuilding (NOT A PROMOD) and it will probably be another 3rd gen,” Derek says, adding that “it took me 15 years to build the Silver Unit so I’m not sure how long it will take me to rebuild a knew one.”
Derek assures fans that they will be able to keep track of the rebuild process online. “I will do progress pictures as I have done in the past, but it will be little by little — my back and arm won’t let me do to much.”
A commenter asked if Derek could share any photos of the original Silver Unit after the crash, and he was happy to oblige:
Derek also expressed his appreciation for the outpouring of support after the crash. “Thank you to all my fans and sponsors and most of all my family for the support,” he wrote. “Silver Unit will be back and better than ever.”
