Seattle morning radio staple Bob Rivers out at KZOK

Bob Rivers

Bob Rivers, who has been a popular on-air radio personality in Seattle for over 20-years, is out of a job because of a contract impasse with CBS.

Rivers has been with radio station KZOK for ten years as the all important morning drive personality.  Rivers told King5 that:

“It’s a privilege for me to work with great people, and I’m even including the people who unfortunately we’re not going to be working with tomorrow.  We have a great relationship with people and they put their faith in us, and it just kills me not to be there in the morning.”

Via his website Rivers has posted a video response showing himself bound and tied and being tortured with clips of The Godfather mixed in.  Here is that clip:

Rivers has been a heavyweight in the Seattle market and is nationally known for his song parodies.  He has a 6-month “non-compete clause” which means he will not be able to work on-air in the Seattle market for that period of time. It will be a long wait for fans of Rivers but he assured his followers that he has no intentions of retiring.  DJ Gary Crowe will fill his time spot temporarily according to KZOK.

Here are a couple of parodies from his show to tide everyone over until BR comes back where he belongs:
