RHOBH’s Yolanda Foster can no longer read and write because of Lyme disease

Yolanda Foster Lyme Disease

Real Housewives of Beverly Hills‘ Yolanda Foster revealed in a new blog post that her battle with Lyme disease has gone from bad to worse.

“Most of you know I have been battling Lyme disease for the past three years,” Yolanda said in her Bravo blog post. “I have gone from the conventional long-term antibiotics to about every holistic protocol there is to offer. Unfortunately, I was only able to get to about a 60% recovery until I relapsed in early December and have not been able to find my way back.”

One scary side-effect of her relapse is that Yolanda has “lost the ability to read, write, or even watch TV.” She said she can’t process information or stimulation. She explained, “It feels like someone came in and confiscated my brain and tied my hands behind my back to just watch and see life go by without me participating in it.”

According to The Mayo Clinic, Lyme disease can cause “cognitive defects, such as impaired memory.” The Mayo Clinic says this can occur if the disease is left untreated — however, Yolanda argued the problem is there is no good way to treat the disease, which is still without a cure.

“Something doesn’t add up here, and I will made it my life mission to figure this out, because nobody deserves to suffer this way in 2015,” she said. “Unfortunately, I am of no use to anyone or anything at this moment while weathering the storm.”

In the time since the post was published on Jan. 15, it looks like Yolanda’s situation has worsened even more: She just posted an Instagram picture of her getting treatment at a Singapore hospital. She added, “I guess God gives his hardest battles to the strongest soldiers… Thank you to My love @officialdfoster and thank you to the most extraordinary staff at #MountElizabethNovenaHospital #Singapore for your kindness and excellent medical care.”
