When the fourth season of Real Housewives of New Jersey concluded, one thing was clear — none of the cast seemed to have any desire to socialize with Teresa Giudice. She appeared to put off everyone this season, including her former best friend Jacqueline Laurita and her cousin Kathy Wakile, which presented a huge problem for the show’s producers. How were they going to keep Teresa on the show if no one liked her? Should they add new “Team Teresa” cast members? Or should they just bring Danielle Staub back so Teresa once again becomes the lesser of two evils? According to two separate reports today, Bravo decided to do both!
Radar Online is reporting that Bravo will be adding three new potential “Team Teresa” cast members for The Real Housewives of New Jersey Season 5 including Noelle Brescia, Gia Casey and Priscilla DiStasio. (Gia and Priscilla were mentioned in a previous report, but Noelle is new!) From Radar:
Noelle is friends with Kim D so she will most likely be on “Team Teresa,” and Gia, who is married to DJ Envy, is also friends with Teresa. Priscilla is Teresa’s makeup artist and best friend, so she’ll definitely be expected to take her side.
Also having a role next season, though not as an “official” housewife, will be Teresa’s friend Kim DePaola. (That is some serious team building right there!)
With the addition of three new housewives it must mean some of the current housewives will be out, right? Right. According to Radar, “Caroline Manzo and Kathy Wakile will not be returning for another season of mud slinging.” WOW! Caroline AND Kathy won’t be back? It will be interesting to see (if the report proves to be true) how fans will react to the show’s matriarch leaving, essentially turning the show into a Gorga House divided with Team Melissa and Team Teresa.
In other Real Housewives of New Jersey Season 5 casting news, former nemesis of Teresa Giudice (and rationality and wholesomeness) Danielle Staub was reportedly asked to return to the hit series. “Bravo has offered Danielle a contract. Danielle is contemplating whether this will be full-time or part-time.,” a show insider told In Touch. Another source added, “The producers squeezed all the juice they could from the Giudices-versus-Gorgas story line and had to think of a fresh outlet for drama. “Having her back on will ruffle a lot of feathers!”
Just last month, Danielle met with Bravo’s head honcho Andy Cohen, but at that time she said she had absolutely no interest in speaking to any of her co-stars. However, it seems as though Andy tried pretty hard to lure her back to the show anyways.
According to Gossip David, “Andy [Cohen] did indeed make Danielle a very generous offer, but she declined.” Their source also claims Danielle was flattered but simply has way too much on her plate to consider a spot on the show. Danielle will continue to focus and grow her existing ventures and projects like, um…
