Real Housewives of Atlanta star NeNe Leakes lands role on NBC sitcom The New Normal
It seems Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy likes what he sees in The Real Housewives of Atlanta star NeNe Leakes, who has been playing the recurring roll of swim coach Roz Washington on the popular high school musical comedy. It was announced Tuesday that NeNe Leakes has landed a recurring role on Murphy’s latest project, The New Normal, a sitcom pilot for NBC!
The show “revolves around a blended family of a gay couple (Andrew Rannells, Justin Bartha) and the woman (Georgia King) who becomes a surrogate for them as they grow their family.” Ellen Barkin will play the mother of Georgia King’s surrogate character and The Hard Times of RJ Berger star Jayson Blair will make a guest appearance in the pilot that could turn into a major recurring role.
On the project, co-created by Ali Adler, NeNe will play the heavily recurring role of Rocky. (Sorry, that’s all we know at this point.)
Congrats to NeNe Leakes for being the first Real Housewife to land recurring acting gigs! (That seems so much more impressive than a spin-off reality show, though slightly less than starting a multi-million dollar liquor mixer brand!) Bloop, bloop, bloop!
