One of the 14 contestants vying for $250,00 inside The Glass House is Kevin Braun, a police sergeant from Toledo, Ohio.
In his bio Kevin spoke about his career and how he believes those experiences will help him strategically:
I am employed with the Toledo Police Department where I have worked for nearly 12 years. Six of those years were spent as a Detective with the Vice/Narcotics Unit, though I now work as a supervisor in Field Operations (patrol). Before becoming a police officer I worked as a pizza maker, shoe salesman, and even a 911 call taker. My work history has provided me with many unique and interesting experiences which I’m sure will come in handy while competing in “The Glass House.”
Part of his history as a member of the Toledo Police Department included an incident in February of 2003 in which he had to do one of the most difficult things an officer is ever called to do in service. Braun shot a suspect after the man allegedly pulled a firearm on him and another officer.
Kevin had been on the force two years when he was called to the house of the sister of the 34-year-old suspect, Jeffrey Davenport. Davenport allegedly hit a neighbor in the head with a chain during an argument outside and then went inside his sister’s house where he often stayed.

Braun and Officer Sheri Kellar-Raab responded to the assault call and approached the residence. Davenport answered the door and the officers told him he needed to come with them. Police said Davenport then reached under a pillow of a nearby chair and pulled out a revolver. He turned around and started to bring the revolver into a shooting position.
It was at this point that Kevin Braun’s training and instinct kicked in. He shoved Davenport’s sister out of the way and shot Davenport four times, hitting him in the chest, stomach, and side. Police later found a dozen guns Davenport had stashed around the house, including a Chinese assault rifle attached to a tripod in his bedroom that was aimed at the bedroom door. A grand jury later indicted Davenport on three counts of felonious assault.
Gregg Harris, president of the Toledo Police Patrolman’s Association and a review board member, said Kevin acted in self-defense. He also lauded his actions in his appraisal calling them textbook:
“There was absolutely no question of whether it was justified or not. He did everything exactly the way it should have been done,” he said. “It was very impressive the way he handled the situation.”
Back in May of 2011 Kevin was honored during National Police Appreciation week with a meritorious service award as well as a letter of recognition. It sounds like Mr. Braun is the kind of man you want on your team.
In his bio Kevin also mentioned the love of his life, his 15-year-old daughter Samara:
My ultimate goals in life are to raise my daughter to be a good person and to continue to work hard serving the citizens of Toledo. I believe that you only get one life to live so you should always make each moment count.
