Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover model Kate Upton and Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander have reportedly struck up a romance. After meeting earlier this year, the two have reconnected and are showing off their new relationship all over Detroit!
Upton and Verlander first worked together in March of this year on a commercial for 2K Sports’ Major League Baseball 2K12 video game. As you can see from the behind-the-scenes video below (2:00), everyone was thrilled to be in the presence of the super sexy Upton, but she seemed to only have eyes for Verlander.
Unfortunately for Upton, he was in a relationship at the time. Just one month after the video was shot, Verlander told Men’s Journal that his longtime girlfriend, Emily Yuen, was “the one” before adding, “I’m not ready.” Could he have been hesitant to move forward with Emily because of his attraction to Kate?!
Now that his relationship with Emily has ended, Verlander and Upton have taken their relationship public. Last Thursday night, the two hit an Aerosmith concert and were seen afterward getting cozy at a local bar called Coyote Joe’s.
Amanda Waynick, who was celebrating her birthday at Coyote Joe’s on the same night, immediately noticed Verlander and approached him for a picture, but the all-star politely declined. Luckily for the tabloids, Amanda accidentally captured him and Upton in action in the background of a photo of her and her friends (above)!
Amanda even posed for a photo with Kate Upton having no idea who she was at the time:
On Friday, Upton showed her support for her new beau at the Tigers game, and he showed his support right back by letting her hang out in his sky box. She tweeted a photo from the stadium and a fellow fan took a short video clip of her cheering on her man!
And here’s the final cut of Kate Upton and Justin Verlander’s 2K Sports Major League Baseball 2K12 commerical:
