Saucy pop singer Katy Perry (who’s documentary movie Part of Me 3D debuted at number 8 at the box office this weekend) has been very vocal about her strict Christian upbringing. She wasn’t allowed to read any books or listen to any music that wasn’t Christian, and couldn’t even use words her parents considered to be associated with the devil, like “Lucky Charms” (Lucifer) or “Dirt Devil.” Katy even told Vanity Fair last year that she didn’t feel like she’d had a childhood.

In fact, as a teen, she had to rock music in her bag to avoid being “strip searched” by her strict parents.
