Benedict Cumberbatch made his overdue first appearance with fiancée Sophie Hunter at the New York City premiere of The Imitation Game on Monday night.
Before announcing their engagement earlier this month, there were only rumors of the Sherlock star’s romance — so it was quite the change when he actually opened up about his relationship with Sophie on Monday: Here’s how he responded when asked by Us Weekly how it feels to have broken thousands of fans’ hearts…
“Fine, in the sense that I’ve made one person’s heart — the most important person in my life — very happy,” he said. Awh!
The appearance is sure to the be the first of many for the couple, considering Benedict is getting a lot of Oscar buzz for his role as Alan Turing, the cryptologist who helped crack Germany’s Enigma Code during World War II, but later faced prosecution by his government for illegal homosexual acts.
