New SpongeBob SquarePants movie to begin filming
Who still lives in a pineapple under the sea? SpongeBob SquarePants!
Savannah Now reports SpongeBob 2 will begin filming in Georgia on Sept. 30. It will serve as a sequel to the 2004 SpongeBob Movie.
Just like the first movie, the film will include live action scenes. Antonio Banderas has been cast as a pirate.
Some report the movie may be the grand finale for the long-running Nickelodeon cartoon, which premiered in 1999. Similarly popular Nickelodeon animated series, such as Rugrats, Hey Arnold and Wild Thornberrys, ended around the same time as their (first, second or third) feature film releases.
SpongeBob 2 is slated for release in February 2015.
