Naked man on mission to see woman survives freezing night in guitar case

Oklahoma Man Freezing Pond

If you ever find yourself without clothes but with a guitar case in the middle of a freezing winter night, one rural Oklahoma man just demonstrated what you need to do: Cuddle up inside and try to keep yourself warm!

According to Oklahoma’s KOTV, Zackery Aders, 31, began a 26-mile mission to see a woman on Tuesday night. Along the way, he got lost and fell through an iced-over pond. As his clothes began to freeze, he stripped them off. He was discovered curled up in his guitar case on Tuesday afternoon by ranchers checking on their cattle. (Reports didn’t actually specify whether the guitar case was Zackery’s, but it seems strange that he would have come upon it any other way.)

“He kept on asking my husband, ‘Please, don’t let me die,'” explained Emily Shamblin, whose husband helped Zackery. “(My husband said,)’Man, I’m not going to let you die, they’re on their way to help you.'”

Reports vary on just how cold the area got that night: One source said it was 35 degrees with a wind chill making it feel like 21. KOTV said it was a more bitter 10 degrees. Either way, Zackery was treated and released from a nearby hospital.

“He kind of more or less admitted that he was last night, but that he was coming down, and spending the night in the cold woods, I guess, will bring you down pretty hard,” said Porum Police Chief Jimmy Catron, adding Zackery was not charged with any crimes. The mugshot shown here is from a previous incident.

No word on whether he’s been able to see that woman.
