Congratulations are in order for Leighton Meester and Adam Brody! The pair quietly welcomed their first child last month, multiple sources confirm.
Their reps haven’t responded to various requests for comment to confirm the baby’s sex or name, but California public records have the details: According to a birth certificate obtained by TMZ, baby girl Arlo Day was born way back on Aug. 4. One reason Leighton and Adam may have been able to keep the arrival a secret for so long is that Arlo wasn’t born at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where most Los Angeles-based stars deliver.
The parents did, however, follow the new celebrity trend of picking a typically male name for a baby girl. During 2014, “Arlo” was the 539th most-popular name for boys born in the United States. Even though it doesn’t register in the Top 1,000 pick for girls, Nameberry notes it’s right in line with “Harlow” (No. 508 for girls) and “Marlowe.”
Baby Arlo has some potential playmates in the kin of her parents’ former co-stars: The O.C.‘s Rachel Bilson welcomed baby Briar Rose last year, Ben Mackenzie is expecting his first child, and Gossip Girl‘s Blake Lively is the new mom to baby girl James.
