Jersey Shore cast react to Hurricane Sandy devastation, to participate in “Restore the Shore” special

The Jersey Shore cast may have said goodbye to the Shore after filming their sixth and last season there over the summer, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t just as devastated about the damage done to their Seaside Heights second home by Hurricane Sandy. In fact, they are planning on doing whatever they can to help rebuild.

“The town is such a big part of our lives,” Paul “DJ Pauly D” DelVecchio recently told In Touch. “We have so many memories there.” The cast first began filming Jersey Shore in the summer of 2009 and while they visited Miami and Italy as well, they always returned to their roots in Seaside.

“Seaside is my second home, the places I’ve visited since my childhood – the restaurants, the beach clubs, the neighborhoods, have all been destroyed,” Ronnie Magro adds. “I’m really looking forward to helping out in the recovery efforts.”

As for the current situation with the cast’s Shore house and the store in which they worked, Deena explains, “I spoke with Danny and the T-shirt shop has some damage (above), but he wants to start rebuilding as soon as possible.”

“I’m happy the shore house survived, but it’s bittersweet knowing the town I’ve called home for so many summers has been hit so hard,” says Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino.

“The boardwalk was our home,” adds Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi. The cast has surely experienced both good times and bad at the Shore. There have been hook-ups, arrests, fights, and more — but above all, the cast remembers all of the great moments they had together and the friendships they took away from it.

Jenni “JWoww” Farley and her fiance Roger Matthews’ home was completely flooded in the hurricane, and Roger shared a few photos of the damage on Twitter. On October 30, he wrote, “Nothing like jet skiing to your house to shut off the main breaker and gas. Yep. That’s my house” along with the photo below:

Over the weekend, Roger and Jenni got started with the clean up process, as you can see in the photo below. Roger wrote, “Started gutting my house today.”
