Jennifer Lawrence admits crush on Larry David, who responds hilariously
Lost in the publicity surrounding J-Law’s Vanity Fair cover story and the response she gave to The Fappening was a silly little tidbit: Lawrence has a serious crush on Larry David.
You know, the co-creator of Seinfeld and star of Curb Your Enthusiasm. The one who’s old enough to be Lawrence’s grandfather. That Larry David.
In the interview, Lawrence was asked what she looks for in a boyfriend. Her response:
Do you like Curb Your Enthusiasm? Do you like Larry David? I’m in love with him, and I have been for a really long time…I worship Woody Allen, but I don’t feel it below the belt the way I do for Larry David.
So, that was last week. Since then, David has been interviewed by David Remnick of The New Yorker, who brought up Lawrence’s crush. His response? “Smart kid. It’s a shame that I’m about 40 years older than she is.”
But then Remnick read David the whole quote, and the Curb creator found himself in awkward stitches.
Maybe she’s referring to her knees [in reference to “below the belt”]. I don’t think I could do it. On one hand it’s very flattering and on another hand, it’s kind of a shame—in terms of timing….I’d have fun watching the reality show of it, though.
Might we suggest that as either the main story arc for the next season of Curb, or a post-Curb meta-meta-meta sitcom? A show about a fake show based on a real quote depicting fake things that actually happen on the fake show after the quote appeared in real print.
If David wants to outdo the über-referential house of mirrors he set up with Curb‘s Seinfeld reunion season, it’ll be tough to come up with a better conceit.
