Hugh Hefner on Tiger Woods: What’s the big deal?
Hugh Hefner, who’s built an empire on the female body, and made a hit television show about his polyamorous relationships with women a quarter of his age, has spoken out about the Tiger Woods affair. His take: What’s the big deal?
Full quote:
“I think the only surprise in it, quite frankly, is that anybody would be surprised. If you’re a good-looking guy and young and healthy, the notion that there would be something else going on, well, marriage is just a convenience. It’s very nice for raising kids, but the notion that monogamy lasts forever is a wish!”
Basically 80-year-old Hef just wants everyone to get over the Tiger scandal like they got over his multiple relationships with blonde teenagers and twentysomethings. Now, many people are bashing Hugh Hefner for being a scumbag and all that, but there’s a reason why very few people get too up-in-arms about Hugh Hefner’s lifestyle: full-disclosure. It’s not exactly the hoards of women that Tiger’s slept with that’s the distateful part, it’s the fact that he went to great lengths to collect scores of mistresses and lie about his activities to his wife and the public. The truth is he’s made a huuuge profit through endorsements with his squeaky-clean image. If he wants to lead a playboy lifestyle, fine, lots of hot celebrity men do, but just don’t lie to your wife and all the people who made you a billionaire.
