Housekeeper and Gloria Allred unleash accusations against Meg Whitman

Meg Whitman her housekeeper and Gloria Allred

State poltitics are consistently the wackiest thing going in America.  In hanging with this theme discrimination attorney Gloria Allred hauled out an undocumented housekeeper of eBay CEO Meg Whitman seemingly to discredit her campaign for Governor of California.

The accusation is that Whitman knowingly employed an undocumented worker, Nicky Diaz Santillan, to assist with housekeeping for over 9 years.  According to Allred, Whitman discovered that Santillan’s social security number didn’t jive but failed to report her to authorities because she was a good and affordable worker.

This “don’t ask, don’t tell” position changed when Whitman announced her candidacy for Governor of California.  Santillan claimed during a tearful press conference that Whitman “treated her like garbage” by firing her so abruptly.  Allred claims to have documentation to support these allegations but danced around questions of whether this public press conference was put together for political reasons as opposed to that of a lawyer simply representing her client.

In a debate held just the day before between Whitman and her opponent Jerry Brown she stated that:

“…employers should be held accountable for hiring undocumented workers.”
